Not too much
to say about this song. Being a pretty social guy, and a believer in having
a good time, I tend to write these "have a good time" songs now and then.
I remember that
I began playing around with this one while I was sitting in my backyard one afternoon. I wanted to write something swingin' and uptempo that I could use as a set opener. In fact, I used it as the opening song on my "Mysterious Ways" CD. A few years ago, I was doing a gig and a woman came up to me and told me that she was studying linguistics, and that I had added a brand-new phrase to the English language with "honk that tonk". (Could be. She seemed to know what she was talking about... although she was a bit drunk.) - Steve H. |
1. Come on, baby / they're strikin'
up the band
We're gonna honk that tonk / 'til
we can hardly stand
And I feel so fine / I feel so fine
I feel so fine / I'm ready for a
good time
2. The music's jumpin' / the joint
is jumpin', too
Give me ten minutes / and I just
might jump on you
'Cause I feel so fine / I feel so
fine
I feel so fine / I'm ready for a
good time
chorus: Life is for livin',
baby / amd love's for givin'
So give me yours / and I'll give
you mine
Don't tell me no or maybe / flash
me your green light, baby
'Cause I'm just waitin' / for a sign
3. The things I'm thinkin' / I can't
put in a song
The way you're lookin' / I'm just
glad the night is long
Oh, I feel so fine / I feel so fine
I feel so fine / I'm ready for a
good time
I feel so fine / I'm ready for a
good time.
Feel So
Fine
